Electrostatic Serenity! There’s something undeniably magic about electrostatics. Whether it’s loudspeakers or headphones, their ability to resolve inner detail, to reproduce music with immediacy, transparency, and focus is unparalleled. Utilizing an almost massless thin film membrane, they have long been regarded as the Holy Grail, and what they do as magic.

ENIGMAcoustics came into existence with that belief. And as a company devoted to electrostatic design, we made a statement right out of the gate with our groundbreaking Sopranino electrostatic super tweeter. Its design, built around our patented SBESL™ (Self-Biased Electrostatic) technology, eliminates the need for an external AC connection to provide a polarizing voltage.

This patented SBESL™ technology is implemented now ─ as a miniaturized work of art ─ in the DHARMA Electrostatic/Dynamic Hybrid Stereo Headphone. The result, not unexpectedly, is high frequency response that extends to 40kHz, and sweet, nuanced, sound that will take your breath away. Augmenting the electrostatic HF element for lower frequencies is a 52mm Washi paper based dynamic driver, which provides not only bass extension to 5Hz, but palpably impactful mid bass as well. It transitions seamlessly to DHARMA’s electrostatic tweeter with a phase coherent first order slope.

At 450 grams, DHARMA is comfortable. It is also an ergonomic and stylish design featuring a high-grade aluminum alloy housing and sound that will envelope the listener in nothing less than electrostatic serenity. Link to the website: enigmacoustics.com. Review: Innerfidelity

The best and most natural headphone amplifier we have heard to date. Just like the PASS XP preamplifiers, the PASS Labs HPA-1 is the result of great attention to detail. Starting at the power cord, the AC line is first filtered for high frequency noise and then isolated by a special toroidal transformer shielded by mu-metal for lower magnetic noise and shielded for electrostatic noise by a separate Faraday shield, grounded to analog ground. This is followed by fast/soft recovery rectifiers, generous CRC passive filtering and sophisticated discrete DC regulators and then more passive RC filters.

  • Works with headphones with impedances of 15 ohms to 600 ohms

  • Low feedback wide bandwidth discreet design.

  • Class A direct coupled Mosfet output stage

  • Custom low noise Torodial power transformer with a Farady shield

  • Discreet regulated power supply for audio circuits.

Excellent conditions Oppo Headphone Amplifier trade-in. The HA-1 combines an uncompromising analog audio section with the latest technology in digital audio. The analog audio section of the HA-1 is a fully balanced design with an emphasis on keeping the audio signal in the analog domain once it leaves the DAC. The HA-1 is anchored by a hefty toroidal power transformer, and linear power regulators and filters with custom made capacitors ensure that the headphone amplifier has a clean power source with plenty of reserve energy. The HA-1 is especially suitable for high-resolution digital audio playback. Its digital inputs include coaxial, optical, balanced AES/EBU, and an asynchronous USB DAC. The USB DAC supports PCM audio up to 384 kHz 32-bit resolution and DSD audio up to 256x the CD sample rate. ESS 9018 Sabre32 Reference DAC ensures extremely low noise and low distortion performance. The HA-1 is a high performance headphone amplifier, and it doubles as an asynchronous USB DAC, a stereo pre-amplifier, a digital audio dock for mobile devices, and a Bluetooth audio transport. Users have a choice of using the 4-pin balanced XLR or the traditional quarter-inch headphone jack. Line level analog inputs and outputs are provided with both RCA and balanced XLR sockets.
